THIS IS THE BEST PIECE OF PUNCTUATION I HAVE NEVER SEEN BEFORE. I CAN’T WAIT TO USE THIS IN REAL LIFE.

The Exclamation Comma. “Just because you’re excited about something doesn’t mean you have to end the sentence.”
That’s true.

Urban Sql injection. WIN!

This just made my morning.

Translation for my non-nerd friends:
+ camera reads license plates+ text of license plate is stored in a database+ this guys covers his license plate w/ special text that hacks databases (“drop database table”)+ … so if the camera reads this guy’s license plate and tried to add the text to the database, there’s a chance the database gets deleted (“dropped”) if it’s not properly protected+ ha!
For another nerd-version of this, see this XKCD comic.

Since when was Facebook smart enough to know the name of the new Kanye West album? Spooooky!
But seriously - this is the smart kind of functionality we should have been building all along. Let’s watch as Facebook pushes social networks towards this smart sharing instead of just “pix with fri3nds”, only for Google to then write better algorithms and take over the space.
Until then - anyone hear the new Kanye? Is it worth getting?

Take three minutes and read shit flowchart. It’s accurate. Follow it. I just signed up for Foodspotting - might shut down my Food Tumblr. Those are the facts.

Amazon Prime: Now with Included Instant Videos! -

When you think you know what heavy hitting business models are out there, you should wait a few weeks and check back with Amazon.com.

Today, they’ve announced that all Amazon Prime members will now be able to access hundreds of movies and TV shows on Instant viewing service.

Fortunately, I still have my Amazon Prime activated from back when they gave all college students a free year. In quickly clicking through the Prime free selection, I can’t say there’s too much stuff I want to be watching at this moment.

What is more interesting though, is the continuing fragmentation of existing movie/TV distribution channels. I believe the average college student will move out and not re-up on their cable subscription. Who in their right mind would pay over a hundred dollars a week for access to shows that are only played on certain channels on certain times?

Instead, I think we’ll continue to see large independent subscription models, with all you can eat packages, tiered by quality of content. Just look at other providers like Hulu, Netflix, Cable on Demand, and now Amazon. The real fun will be if Amazon unleashes a video Kindle-style device. Then we’ll see some real flares against the iTunes store and the iPad.

Just a matter of time until color eInk or an alternative is perfected, and computing speeds get that much faster…
